Who We Help
Long-term Residential Care for Adults With Mental Illness
Residential Care for Adults With Serious Mental Illness
Finding the right place for an adult with serious mental illness can be difficult. Your loved one may no longer be able to live safely on their own, but may not need or be appropriate for a hospital or locked facility.
Individual Care of Texas provides long-term residential care for adults who need daily living assistance and protective supervision while continuing to participate in everyday life as independently as possible.
We most commonly care for adults living with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and other serious mental health conditions.
When Independent Living Isn't Working Anymore
Some adults can manage certain parts of everyday life but still need ongoing support, supervision and structure to live safely.
They may have experienced psychiatric hospital stays, periods of living at home with family, or other forms of care. Over time, families may realize that their loved one needs a stable place to live where someone is available to provide assistance and supervision throughout the day.
That’s where Individual Care of Texas comes in.
Our homes provide a supportive residential environment where adults can receive the assistance they need while maintaining as much independence as possible.
Who We Commonly Serve

Schizophrenia
We commonly care for adults living with schizophrenia who need ongoing residential support, supervision and assistance with daily routines.

Bipolar Disorder
Our residential environment provides structure and support for adults with bipolar disorder who are not able to safely manage independent living.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Adults living with OCD may need varying levels of support with everyday life. We evaluate each individual to determine whether our environment is an appropriate fit.

Traumatic Brain Injuries & Other Conditions
We also care for adults with traumatic brain injuries and other serious mental health conditions when their needs are appropriate for our residential environment.
A Supportive Home — Not a Locked Facility
Individual Care of Texas is a Type A assisted living facility, which means residents must be able to exit the building independently in an emergency and follow directions.
Because our facilities are not locked, we carefully evaluate each prospective resident to make sure the environment is appropriate for their needs.
Residents may have some physical limitations and still be considered, but individuals who are prone to wandering or who cannot safely navigate an open environment may not be appropriate for this setting.

Support Doesn't Mean Giving Up Independence
Our residents are adults with their own interests, routines and preferences.
We encourage residents to participate in their daily lives and community whenever they are able.
Depending on their abilities and circumstances, residents may:
The goal is not to do everything for a resident. It is to provide the support they need to participate in life as independently as possible.
You May Be Looking for Care Because Your Loved One's Needs Have Changed
Families often reach out when they are no longer able to provide the level of care their loved one needs at home.
Sometimes a parent is getting older and is beginning to think about what will happen when they can no longer provide care.
Sometimes the family has been through years of trying different options and simply needs a stable, long-term place where their loved one can live.
